International Ocean Institute, Southern Africa

The IOI-SA is one of 24 operational centres around the world that make up the IOI network. Our focus is on developing capacity for management in priority areas of marine & coastal management, especially as pertains to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and related concerns of ocean governance.

Key gap areas lacking adequate management throughout Africa, such as impacts from the maritime industry, are of particular interest to IOI-SA.
