SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECT (SECCP) OF EARTHLIFE AFRICA

SACAN is a network of NGOs in South Africa that have an interest in issues relating to climate change. SACAN was established in 2001, and is a member of the international Climate Action Network (CAN).

SACAN aims to facilitate the participation of civil society organisations in responding to climate change, and to promote government, industry and individual action to limit human-induced climate change and reduce vulnerability to climate impacts.

Objectives

• To coordinate information exchange on national, regional and international, climate policies and issues;
• To formulate policy options and position papers on climaterelated issues;
• To promote effective NGO involvement to address the threat of global warming; and
• To build the capacity of civil society and raise awareness of the causes, impacts and potential responses to climate change.
