BURSARIES: SANBI Postgraduate Bursaries available for 2017 - 27 September 2016

SANBI Postgraduate Bursaries available for 2017
2 x Honours; 2 x Masters; 1 x Doctoral

The South African National Biodiversity Institute is making several post graduate bursaries available from the 2017 acadamic year.

 

Projects:

Only projects relevant to SANBI’s mandate and within the following programmes will be considered

  • Statistical Ecology 
  • Ecological Restoration 
  • Ecological Infrastructure
  • Pollination Biology
  • Climate Change Vulnerability and Ecosystem based Adaptation
  • Threatened Species 
  • Sustainable Use of Species
  • Ecosystem Classification and Assessment
  • Biosystematics Research
  • Biodiversity Informatics
  • Wildlife Economy

Bursary values: (to cover living expenses and university fees)

  • Honours/4th year undergraduate: R 80,000/year for 1 year
  • Masters: R 120,000/year for 2 years 
  • Doctoral: R 150,000/year for 3 years 

Project running expenses will be covered separately to the bursaries and will vary depending on the project.

 

Requirements: Candidates must be pro-active, enthusiastic, and interested in doing excellent research that can make a difference. Student bursaries are only available to South African citizens and will be awarded in line with national equity targets. Students need to apply to university programmes themselves and the bursary is conditional upon them securing their position in a postgraduate programme.

 

Application procedure: Each application is to be accompanied by a standard bursary application cover sheet.  Applications are to include a full CV; certified copies of ID and academic record; two letters of academic reference. Send all documents to students@sanbi.org.za with “SANBI postgraduate bursaries” in the subject line.
